YOUTH UPDATE

Summer is here and I hope you all are enjoying the time away from school. While school is out and you have lots of freedom, remember it is Jesus who freed us from sin and death through his great sacrifice. “You were called to freedom, brothers and sisters, only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for self-indulgence, but through love become slaves to one another. For the whole law is summed up in a single commandment, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Galatians 5:13-14). Use the freedom you have been given to show your love for one another and your love of God. Find a way to serve; as Christ served during his time on earth.

We do have some events happening this summer for you to be aware of:

(1) LUTHERAN DAY AT SIX FLAGS GREAT AMERICA - all ages (but there will be many youth groups in attendance). Arrive early for a tailgate worship service in the parking lot at 9:15am. Cost is $26 per person (tkt valid for one day only, over 8/5-8/8 weekend) and tickets must be purchased by Thursday, July 1st. Contact Lauren Busey, 847-673-8564, or email her at lauren@trinityevanston.org. If this deadline has passed, you still might be able to get in, so call right away!

(2) Park Ridge Fireworks are at Maine East on Friday night July 2nd. Come on out and hang with us on the Church lawn to watch the display. Bring a chair, blanket, etc. I am certain folks will be out early, so bring a friend and enjoy the “best seat in the house” for the Park Ridge fireworks!

(3) Park Ridge Community Church is sponsoring three youth (entering 6th grade and up) Movie Nights at PRCC on the last Thursdays of June, July, and August. These will be chaperoned events and youth have a choice of movies rated PG and PG-13. Youth will be able to watch two films AND purchase treats for as little as $3—CAN’T BEAT THAT!

(4) VBS coming up a Messiah the last week of July.....We still need leaders and volunteers. The dates are July 26 – July 30. We need all the help we can get. It is a great way to serve others. The little kids love having you all to help out, to look up to, and it is a great chance to be a positive role model. Contact Mrs. Holzer immediately and let her know you will help!

(5) More to come in the fall with the Northwest Youth Ministry Alliance! There will be lots of chances to meet other Christian teens from local churches, hang out, and have fun. So watch the Messenger, your e-mail, and the Messiah Facebook page for information and updates!

Have a fun and safe summer! Hope to see you in worship!
